Redbud Blossoms in Spring

Edition Size:

Redbuds are small trees, inconspicuous much of the year. But in early spring they light up the forest with a spray of smoky pink that is breathtakingly beautiful. I took this photograph in Tennessee, along the Natchez Trace Parkway, a wonderful road that winds slowly through Mississippi and Tennessee, ending in Nashville at its northern end. Run by the National Park Service, this is among the most beautiful roads I've ever driven, from the alligators and bayous of the south to the redbud-edged hills of the Tennessee portion. This redbud, located in a hardwood forest, had a elegant look that just waited for my camera to venture by.
