Impressions of Wild Gentians

Edition Size:
250
The blooming of the wild gentians signals the end of the summer wildflower season in the high Cascade Mountains of the Pacific Northwest. For this photograph, I chose to interpret the gentians impressionistically, blurring the rich blue color of the foreground by focusing on several flowers in the distance. These gentians were growing in a wonderful alpine meadow at Summerland, on the slopes of Mount Rainier, in Mount Rainier National Park. This was my favorite wildflower photograph from an amazing September day in the high country.
