Frost on Autumn Huckleberries
After an autumn night of clear skies in Washington's Noisy-Diobsud Wilderness in the Cascade Mountains, frost covered every leaf and twig. It was beautiful! For this photograph, I selected an area of red and green leaves that had delicate frost crystals on their margins; I had to work quickly, because the sun was rising and the sun's rays would immediately melt the delicate crystals. The resultant photograph shows the fragile and ephemeral nature of much of the best of nature.
