FOREST IMPRESSIONS 8: A Fleeting Moment
Red Alders thrive in disturbed habitats along the Pacific Coast from northern California to Alaska, frequently forming dense stands of small trees. They are rarely beautiful, but sometimes in winter I have successfully captured their magic. In this case I was jogging on a rare sunny day during a western Washington winter. I found this grove at the end of the day, and photographed them with a moving camera technique that lends an impressionistic feel.
