AMERICAN ICON 7: Red Barn and Blue Sky

Having grown up in the American heartland of the Midwest, I have a special affinity for classic red barns with a gambrel roof. This barn, located in Washington State's Olmstead Place State Park, is an especially beautiful example of the genre. What I especially like about this photograph is the graphic simplicity of it; it does not necessarily evoke nostalgia, instead it presents the red barn, blue sky, and golden grasses as a contemporary composition.
